Earthenware clay is porous, so when it comes into contact with water it is absorbed.  Here is the really cool part, when the plant’s roots draw up moisture from the soil, the soil becomes drier, which creates tension, which pulls more water through the ceramic pores into the soil to keep your plant hydrated for days. 

This extra Large Self Watering Pot is fashioned to resemble a rock. It has a lovely two part design. The ceramic insert is water permeable, providing constant moisture directly to the soil and roots. The base holds enough water to keep your beloved plant hydrated for more than a week between fillings (depending on climate). Its unique aesthetic is pleasing both indoors or out, and has a durable waterproof finish that will last for years. Beautiful work.....

My violet pot arrived in excellent condition. Packaged to protect the violet pot very well. I immediately planted my struggling violet in the new pot. Within a couple of days it was looking so much better already. (I know from past experience that these self-watering pots work best for violets.). I purchased the magic copper color pot, BUT I really wanted the dark smoky color (very natural rock color) but it was "sold out" and I needed a violet pot quickly.

I'm very happy with the quality of the product and the ease of placing my order, just wish my first color choice was available.

I’m very pleased with this purchase. The bottom pot holds enough water to take care of my violets for a week. I love that they appear to be growing from a rock cropping and that they were made in the USA!
